Much like today, as I am writing this post, I am spread out like Patrick Star on the sofa. It happens every once in a while. May it be menstrual phase, cloudy minds or restlessness, there’s nothing a book can’t fix. Especially the kind of books that encourage butt-kicking, figuratively speaking.
If carrying physical copies of book seems unappealing to you, we’ve got you covered with podcasts and websites to have a crack at.
Making Ideas Happen by Scot Belsky
This book opens the portal that leads me to many more writers writing on the topic of creative productivity and motivation. It is first on the list for a reason. You will learn something just by reading the content page - every title is an actionable prompt. Great for those who needs a push in getting things done.
Manage your day-to-day by Jocelyn K. Glei
I will straight up call this the modern day creative work bible. It is compiled of bite-size essays written by 20 leading creative minds. It is here to equip you with insights for using your time wisely and making the most of it, every day.
The DO books
They are a series of book written by DO lectures speakers, whose ideas have inspired others to go and do things. Each book is short yet concise, focusing on the doing part more so than the theory part. They serve as practical guides that make it easier to do stuff. https://thedobook.co/
Start Something that Matters by Blake Mycoskie
By all means, it's a book for entrepreneurs with a healthy dose of therapy to hold your hand and lead you through it. A lovely balance between inspirational quotes and pep talks on one hand, while offering practical advice, guiding questions and realistic goals on the other.
Art Inc. by Lisa Congdon
The premise of this book is ‘You don’t have to starve to be an artist.’ It provides detailed, step-by-step guide to do what you love and make a living out of it. It busts the notion that creativity and imagination is all you need to be an artist, when in fact it takes a whole lot more. Knowing that it’s going to be hard work, drove me to make every task count.
Here is the non-book category:
Empowering the creative community through articles, talks and publishing books.
Zen Habits https://zenhabits.net/
Taps into the mind work of productivity without straining.
Optimal Living Daily http://optimallivingdaily.com/

Things are what you make of them
It’s technically a book, but I want to mention the Instagram account dedicated to it. Pairing motivational quotes with yummy colours, best served first thing in the morning for a boost.
